Our June meeting at the Sizzler with Gunny
Sergeant Popaditch was just outstanding. As we listened to a
man, who was willing to give all for our freedom and the
freedom of the Iraqi people, we were moved to tears.
Recently we have seen the Iranian people, too, are willing
to face the threat of being beaten or killed, in order to
gain only the right to a free election. How can we sit by
and watch these people give everything for liberty and not
be willing to at least go to a Tea Party rally on
Independence Day, where we are free to protest, without the
threat of harm, a government who is rapidly taking away our
rights and moving us toward socialism and the total control
of our lives?!! How can we not be writing or calling our
legislators, telling them to stop the take over of our
banks, businesses, and health care and giving special rights
to terrorists?!! Please join us on the 4th of July at the
Temecula Duck Pond after the Parade from 11 am to 2 pm for
the Tea Party Protest, and be sure to write and call
Sacramento and Washington DC when you receive our Special
Alerts this summer.
In a recent newspaper article, “Let Burke Explain Obama”,
Thomas Sowell wrote that Edmund Burke, a British statesman,
said that he feared that “we may place our confidence in the
virtue of those who have never been tried.” Sowell
explained, “I could not help but think of the new powers
that have been created by which a new President of the
United States – a man with zero experience in business – can
fire the head of General Motors and tell banks how to run
their businesses…Neither eloquence nor zeal was a substitute
for experience, according to Burke.”
Sowell went on to say that “the biggest challenge to America
– and to the world today is the danger of Iran with nuclear
weapons. Obama is acting as if this is something he can
finesse with talks or deals. Worse yet, he may think it is
something we can live with.” Burke’s quote, “There is no
safety for honest men, but by believing all possible evil of
evil men, and by acting with promptitude, decision, and
steadiness on that belief.”
If you really want to understand what caused the economic
crisis in our country, you should add to your summer reading
Thomas Sowell’s, The Housing Boom and Bust. Don’t forget to
also read Up from Slavery, by Booker T. Washington, which
our club will be donating to all the school libraries in our
valley and perhaps some class sets in the future.
Although we don’t have a regular meeting at the Sizzler in
July and August, we will be having a couple of night
meetings to encourage business women and students, who
cannot come during the day, to attend and perhaps join us.
Our first meeting will be at my house on Monday, July 27, at
6:30 pm. You are all invited to come, have dinner and hear
our speaker, Dr. Paul Chabot.
Have a wonderful summer!
